University College Dublin's Open Days were held on
Wednesday, 13 and Thursday, 14 March 2002.
Students and teachers came from all
over Ireland, bringing an attendance of 19,500 students from 310 schools, who
were accompanied
by 500 career guidance counsellors and teachers. 90% of those attending were
fifth year students, who will be making their CAO applications in January
2003.
The objective of the UCD Open Days
was to provide
future students with information on the career options open to them and the
opportunity to see campus facilities and the on-campus student residences.
Briefing sessions for groups of students took place every half hour in the
Student Centre, from 9am until 12.30pm, after which the students were free to
visit the various buildings which had on-site talks and displays.
Staff were available to discuss the courses on offer in all the
faculties.
