October at a reception in Roebuck Castle.
This student publication contains essays on a variety of contemporary legal issues, including the rights of young
mothers in Ireland, paternalism and the law and an appraisal of former Chief Justice
Keane's contribution to the Supreme Court and Constitutional law. The award for the best article was won by Ms Cliona Kelly, a PhD
student, for her article on the doctrine of frustration and employment contracts. Mr Stephen Riney won the
award for the best case note from a first year undergraduate.
In attendance at the launch were the Chancellor of the National University of Ireland and former Taoiseach Dr
Garret Fitzgerald, Mr Justice Hardiman of the Supreme Court and Mr Justice Peart of the High
Court, as well as members of the legal profession and students and staff of the Law faculty. Also present were representatives
from Arthur Cox solicitors, the sponsors of the Law Review.
