We are very pleased to announce the official launch of the Public Patient Involvement (PPI) Ignite Network @ UCD, this Friday 3rd December.
Led from UCD School of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems by Professor Thilo Kroll, in collaboration with Dr Emma Dorris, Public Engagement, UCD Research and Innovation, the PPI Ignite Network of centres spans seven higher education institutions and 10 national partners across the whole island.
The first of its kind in Ireland, jointly funded by the Health Research Board and Irish Research Council, the initiative supports seven universities to catalyse change in Irish research culture by providing support for researchers to involve people in every stage of their research.
To support the launch, UCD will host two events next Friday:

Fireside Chat: Public and Patient Involvement at UCD: the next chapter

Join the PPI Ignite Network's UCD site lead Professor Thilo Kroll and a panel of distinguished guests as they discuss the values underpinning PPI, the ethos of involved research, reflect on past learning and discuss their aspirations for what’s to come.

Although the morning event was specifically designed for researchers, all are welcome to attend. The afternoon session will include panellists Professor Suzie Guerin, UCD School of Psychology, Les Martin, patient advocate for newborn screening, and Dr Nikki Dunne, Family Careers Ireland. It will be facilitated by Professor Amanda McCann, PI and Senior Conway Fellow and lead of the Patient Voice in Cancer Research, and opened by UCD Vice-President for Research, Innovation and Impact, Professor Orla Feely.
