Position Available: Subject External Examiner for Adult General Nursing at UCD

UCD School of Nursing Midwifery and Health Systems is seeking to appoint a Subject External Examiner for our Taught Graduate Programmes in Cancer Nursing, Chronic Illness Management and Diabetes Care. These programmes provide specialist training for graduate nurses to consolidate and build on their professional practice.
Applicants should have a strong clinical and/or research background in the fields of Cancer Nursing, Chronic Illness Management, and/or Diabetes Care.

Subject External Examiners provide an important consultative and advisory function in supporting the development of the subjects that contribute to UCD programmes, as well as the enhancement of teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
This position requires the external examiner to be an nursing educator, with a recordable teaching qualification, and hold a current registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) or equivalent.
The appointment will be for four years starting from September 2024, and the commitment required includes:
- Programme Team Communication: Engaging in regular communication with the programme team.
- Curriculum Design: Reviewing course documents and advising on curriculum design to ensure the highest standards of education.
- Coursework Review: Reviewing a range of coursework throughout the year.
- Interim Visits: Conducting an interim visit per year, either in person or virtually, to meet with faculty, obtain feedback on assessment in practice, and strengthen your engagement with ongoing teaching, learning, and assessment processes.
