Campus Company Development Programme

The NovaUCD Campus Company Development Programme (CCDP), which commences each Spring has run annually since 1996.  Since its inception 185 new ventures and 290 individuals have completed the CCDP. The CCDP is a nine-month, part-time enterprise support initiative designed to suit the timetable of busy researchers and academics. It comprises a mix of practical training and consultancy support including 12 half-day workshops, one-to-one advice and consultancy meetings, and a series of networking events.

The aim of the CCDP is to assist academic and research entrepreneurs in the establishment and development of knowledge-intensive enterprises to commercialise the output of their research and other innovative ideas. The Programme helps participants in defining and developing their innovative ideas and in preparing a detailed business plan..

On completion of the CCDP participants will have developed a business plan and a strategy for its implementation. Participants on the Programme will have access to advice from the NovaUCD team and the network of advisors and organisations connected to NovaUCD. They will also have an opportunity to access desk space facilities and associated services of NovaUCD.

The Programme has been specially designed for individuals involved in the development of knowledge-based companies. The new ventures will be innovative and have the potential to benefit from the specialist expertise and facilities of UCD, Enterprise Ireland and the NovaUCD sponsors.

The participating new ventures on the programme will be assessed by an Evaluation Panel made up of representatives from NovaUCD’s network and sponsors.  Ventures will be evaluated based on the progress made during the course of the programme through presentations made to the Panel at the beginning and end of the programme and on the business plan.  

The CCDP culminates in an awards evening which is held each November.  At this event each new venture deliver san “elevator pitch” to an audience which is made up of the NovaUCD network which includes venture capitalists and business angels. Each venture completes the programme will be presented with a Certificate. Three shortlisted ventures will also present their business plans in more detail and will receive a sculpture and monetary award.

Previous winners and participants on the Programme include BiancaMed, Celtic Catalysts, ChangingWorlds, CRDS, Equinome, JLizard, RendezVu and TopChem.
