A week long festival celebrating innovation in the city will take place in Dublin from Wednesday 14 to Tuesday 20 October, with over 200 events, including over 35 UCD events, open to the public.
Innovation Dublin 2009, a project of the Creative Dublin Alliance is being promoted and co-ordinated by Dublin City Council, will showcase, promote and stimulate innovation and creativity across the city. Everyone is invited to participate in the events ranging from business seminars and science demonstrations to storytelling, workshops, music and virtual games.
The people involved in the week's activities include Chief Executive Officers of multi-national corporations, innovators and entrepreneurs in small and medium enterprises, educators, researchers and school children, artists and creators, people in local authorities, citizens and local communities.
Speaking in advance of Innovation Dublin 2009 Dublin's Lord Mayor, Cllr Emer Costello said, “it’s the mix of people, their ideas and their events that helps to make Dublin a smarter city and the willingness of the people involved in Innovation Dublin to share their knowledge and expertise with all of us, makes it well worth getting involved and supporting it.”

Innovation Dublin 2009 events are being organised around the 5 themes of:
Public Realm - quality public spaces, excellence in architecture, unique character trails and the spatial layout of the city
Environment - experience in the built environment, the principles embedded in the natural environment
Enterprise – experience a network of technological linkages, creative talent, spatial and sectoral clusters of specialisation and excellence.
People – explore the social spirit and pulse of the city through educational programmes, community activities, social inclusion and city regeneration projects
Culture - events that demonstrate the way we live our lives through the arts and culture, modern and historic buildings and the creative use of public space.
NovaUCD, as the Innovation and Technology Transfer Centre at UCD, is co-ordinating all UCD’s events for Innovation Dublin week.
