About Dublin
Dublin is a safe and friendly city, an eventful place with a vibrant arts and performance scene and food to cater to everyone’s tastes. It’s a great place to just walk around to see the architecture and to grab a pastry and a coffee at one of the many Dublin coffee spots.
When you get here in July, it’s the Irish summer. The days are long and relatively warm (~19C). Pack for warm weather but also bring a few things for any rain or unfortunate cold snaps. There are a lot of museums for anyone wanting to get to know Dublin and stay dry.
It’s a city with mountains to the south (the Wicklow mountains) which you’ll be able to see from your UCD accommodation and the sea to the east (25 minute walk from UCD).
The Yellow Umbrella tour could be something you go on on your free afternoon to get a quick 3 in 1 - history, walk and sightseeing! Just bring an umbrella and sunglasses, can’t promise what the weather’s going to be like.
Ireland is famous for its traditional music, and many of Dublin's pubs host Irish music sessions during the day and into the evening. Some of the best spots include The Cobblestone in Smithfield, Darkey Kelly's on Fishamble Street, O'Donoghues Bar on Merrion Row, The Temple Bar pub in Temple Bar and The Brazen Head on Lower Bridge Street.
