How to get to UCD

The Irish capital of Dublin is well connected internationally and has regular flights from all the U21 Health Sciences Group partner locations. Some may need to have a short layover through London in the UK or another European capital so make sure to look into any short stay visa requirements

Once in Dublin, there are direct links to UCD where you’ll spend most of the summer school. There are two terminals T1 (normally shorter haul flights) and T2 (normally long haul flights) within walking distance of each other.

Currency

Ireland uses the Euro (€). There are currency ATMs in the airport where you can withdraw Euros using your card in your own currency but you may want to bring some Euros from home for the first few days for cash transactions. Most shops in Dublin accept card payments.

Coach

The number 700 Air Coach from Dublin Airport (T1 or T2) to Dublin City Centre and Leopardstown takes you to University College Dublin (Set Down). The ride is about an hour and is around €15 (Euros). Book it ahead of time, buy the ticket from the ticket machine in the bus stop or  from the driver (a bit more expensive). The Air Coach runs every 15 minutes from 6am to 8pm and then more infrequently overnight and the station is clearly signposted as you exit the arrivals hall.

Taxi

Ireland uses the Free Now taxi app which is similar to Uber. The journey would cost around €35 and be a bit under an hour. There’s also a general taxi rank just as you go out of the terminal. Most drivers have a card machine - just check they do before hopping in.
