Eriugena Lectures – Professor Wouter Goris, University of Bonn

The Faculty of Philosophy at University College Dublin, the Department of Philosophy at Maynooth University and the Newman Centre for the Study of Religions are pleased to announce the launch of the annual "Eriugena Lectures".
The guest lecturer for 2025 is Professor Wouter Goris from the University of Bonn, who will give three lectures situating the concept of ‘absolute indifference’ within Hegel's work, German Idealism and the history of philosophy (Avicenna, Thomas Aquinas and John Duns Scotus):
Tuesday, 4 March 2025 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm: ‘Continentia unitiva - The concept as concrete totality in the Lectura Parisiensis of John Duns Scotus’.
Wednesday, 5 March 2025 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm: ‘Absolute Indifference: The historical roots of a methodical problem in Hegel's Science of Logic’.
Thursday, 6 March 2025 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm: ‘Genesis and structure of the transition into Hegel's The Logic of Essence’.
