Postgraduate WiP Seminars 2024/25

WiP stands for Work in Progress: it is the best occasion to present your work in progress in order to receive feedback from your colleagues in a friendly and informal but still academic environment. The WiP seminars have connected philosophy students from UCD and TCD for many years, and for this semester UCD is going to host the speakers from TCD.

How does WiP work?

WiP is a forum for you to present any philosophical work you have in progress or might have doubts on. It might be an essay for a module, an article, or a chapter from your thesis. It is a good way to see if what you are working on is received well by other students with a different philosophical and cultural background. If you are missing something or taking something for granted, this seminar is an opportunity to make a step toward a more developed piece of work.

Who can participate?

Every student who is doing a PhD, an MLitt, or an MA in Philosophy at UCD and/or TCD can participate. Although students who meet these requirements have priority for seminars, any other scholar is welcome, insofar as they are affiliated with UCD or TCD, and their work is of philosophical interest.

When and where are seminars held?

Traditionally, the seminars take place every Tuesday from 4pm to 6pm in UCD, Newman Building, at Agnes Cuming seminar room D520 (5th floor) or in Trinity College, in the city centre.

Who can I contact to book a seminar and for other questions?

For any questions (to book a seminar, to have the Zoom link, etc.) you can contact the coordinator. For the 2023/24 academic year you can contact Philipp Wagenhals, (opens in a new window)philipp.wagenhals@ucdconnect.ie
