UCD Volunteers Overseas

UCDVO placements offer students a unique opportunity to work with partners in Uganda and Tanzania to apply their skills and enhance their clinical expertise. Students develop adaptability by innovating and problem-solving, and working with diverse communities fosters their cultural competence. Students undertaking their placement with UCDVO take part in a year-long transformative programme which provides education and development workshops on sustainable, responsible volunteering in preparation for the placement. The placements expose students to international health systems. Students also cultivate empathy and a stronger commitment to addressing health inequalities, aligning with the core values of their professions.

Stage 3 (opens in a new window)BSc Physiotherapy and Stage 2 Professional Masters in Physiotherapy students are eligible to apply for an elective placement with UCDVO. Year 1 MSc Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics students are also eligible to carry out part of their practice placements with UCDVO.
