UCD SPHPSS meets WHO Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus at Global Health Priorities Forum

UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science Professor Patrick Wall and Associate Professor Mary Codd had the honour and pleasure of meeting with World Health Organization Director-General Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus and World Health Organization Executive Director of Health Emergencies Programme, and UCD Master of Public Health alumnus, Dr Mike Ryan, at the Global Health Priorities Forum, hosted by the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland on 18th December.
The forum provided an opportunity for key advancements and questions around global health priorities to be presented and discussed, including the ongoing negotiations regarding an International Pandemic Agreement, pandemic planning and preparedness, and war and migration.
SPHPSS Associate Professor Mary Codd, who is an Executive Board Member of ASPHER and Core Curriculum Programme Lead, shared the important role that ASPHER plays and presents in Europe in both practice, research and training, ASPHER statements on the New Normal in Public Health and consequent training needs, healthier futures, one health, climate health and how Schools of Public Health can promote peace with both Dr Ghebreyesus and Dr Ryan.
The UCD SPHPSS Master of Public Health is an internationally recognised degree which provides education and training in the core disciplines of public/population health, i.e. epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental health, health services administration and health education & behavioural sciences.
