Institute of Food and Health
The UCD Institute of Food and Health is affiliated with the UCD School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science. The Institute is unique in Europe in bringing together food and health research from food production through to food science, nutrition and engineering and finally to food regulation and consumer behaviour. The Institute and School are closely linked through several projects and initiatives including the National Nutrition Surveillance Centre, the HRB National Centre for Diet and Health, the Joint Irish Nutrigenomics project and studies examining consumer perception of food risk. School staff affiliated with the Institute included Professor Mike Gibney, Professor Cecily Kelleher, Professor Helen Roche and Professor Pat Wall.

APPETITE Project
The APPETITE project is a trans-European research project where 8 institutes from 6 European countries (Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, France & United Kingdom) are collaborating for a common purpose. Each institute is funded through their local funding agency under the EU Joint Programming Initiative (JPI) ‘A Healthy Diet for a Healthy Life’ (ERA-HDHL) 2020 call for the development of targeted nutrition for prevention of undernutrition for older adults (PREVNUT).
