Message of support to students, researchers, and staff in the School of Physics
Dear colleagues and members of the School of Physics,
We often come across news articles describing harassment and misconduct in the workplace. For the School of Physics we categorically state that no person should be subjected to harassment of any kind and no student or employee should suffer abuse or misconduct by others, particularly by those who are more senior or in positions of power.
In case you find yourself treated in a manner you feel is unprofessional, the School will fully support you by finding a way forward without undue delay, locally within the School or within the procedures established within and outside the University.
Various reporting mechanisms are in place, ranging from confidential discussions with myself or other School staff, to anonymous reporting via the UCD system. The School of Physics aims to be a friendly and safe working environment for all. In the School we all hope that you feel comfortable to bring any unwanted behaviour to our attention so that we can rectify the situation as soon as possible.
