Certified EUPATI modules open to UCD doctoral students
As part of the UCD-EUPATI partnership we are delighted to announce a pilot scheme for UCD doctoral students to undertake EUPATI modules. There are four modules to choose from (see below). Through the pilot scheme, certification for completion of the module will be issued without cost to the registered PhD student (rules and limits apply).
Each module has learning hours and reading equivalent to 5 ECTS. These modules are self-directed and delivered on EUPATI's open classroom.
How it works
- Doctoral students must discuss and obtain permission to apply from their PhD supervisor.
- Doctoral students express their interest in undertaking the module to EUPATI (opens in a new window)via this form.
- As part of the expression of interest, potential learners:
- Consent to the sharing of information between EUPATI and UCD.
- Indicate their preferred module.
- Confirm that to receive the certification without charge to them, learners will complete the module in full within the trimester they were awarded a token. Failure to complete the module within that trimester will result in the voiding of that token and the student will become responsible for fees associated with issuance of certificate of completion.
- If the student meets the minimum criteria, and a learner token is available, EUPATI will follow up with the student with a link to the EUPATI Open Classroom.
- The Open Classroom link will contain the component elements that make up your module.
- The module is self-directed, the student is responsible for managing their time and completing the digital assignments.
- Upon successful completion within the prescribed timeframe, EUPATI will issue a digital certificate of completion.
- Students can use this certificate and the information related to hours of training completed, to apply for recognition of external credits. Please note, neither EUPATI nor the PPI Ignite Network @ UCD are responsible for the application nor the outcome or a student's application for recognition of external or prior learning.
Module Options
Information for those not eligible for the scheme
The component content of these modules is available to access without certification to anyone interested via EUPATI Open Classroom. (opens in a new window)Visit the EUPATI Open Classroom, register, and learn in your own time. This is available free of charge for your own knowledge building.
The modules available under the UCD-EUPATI doctoral student scheme differ only in that (1) completion is certified by EUPATI with costs covered by PPI Ignite Network @ UCD, (2) there are set components in each module that must be completed and (3) the content in each module is the equivalent to 5 credits under the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).
About the pilot scheme for doctoral students
Access to scheme
- This scheme is open to UCD registered doctoral students only.
- Applications must be made via EUPATI's dedicated application form.
- Applications for the autumn term must be made on or before 31st October 2024.
- Requests for reimbursement of EUPATI certificates obtained outside this scheme will not be entertained.
- There are a limited number of learner tokens available.
- There is a maximum of one token per student.
- Failure to fully complete a module within the academic term in which the student enrolled will result in the voiding of that student's learner token. The student will become responsible for fees associated with issuance of certificate of completion.
- Trimesters operate as per the UCD Academic Council Term Dates.
What is a learner token |
---|
Learner tokens are how this scheme operates in the background. Each learner token represents a per person cost. There are a set amount of learner tokens available. When a student enrolls EUPATI allocates one of the available tokens to them. To maximise their use, students are time-limited in how long they have to complete the module. If that time lapses without completion, that token is reallocated to a different student. |
Credit for modules
- EUPATI own and deliver these modules. These are not UCD modules.
- Upon successful completion of all requirements, EUPATI will issue a digital certificate.
- To have the external learning module credited by UCD, each student must apply via UCD standard processes for credits for external learning. See UCD's RPL policy and UCD graduate studies for further guidance.
- Neither PPI Ignite Network @ UCD nor EUPATI are responsible for the outcome of a student's application for recognition of external credits.
Other Key information
- These modules relate to medicines research and development.
- The modules include information about the topic in addition to patient involvement in said topic. Please read the module descriptors prior to enrollment to decide if it is right for you.
- This is a pilot scheme, issues may arise as we deliver it. We will endeavour to tackle any emergent issues in a timely fashion.
- As part of the scheme, you agree to EUPATI and the PPI Ignite Network @ UCD sharing your information in relation to this scheme.
- This a pilot scheme between the PPI Ignite Network @ UCD and EUPATI. We reserve the right to change application and learner token allocation processes as this pilot progresses.
