Launch of WHO and ILAE/IBE’s Global Report ‘Epilepsy: A public health imperative’.
In June 2019, the World Health Organisation, in cooperation with the ILAE (International League against Epilepsy) and IBE (International Bureau for Epilepsy) launched a new global report ‘Epilepsy: a public health imperative’. The report can be accessed on the World Health Organisation (WHO) site at (opens in a new window)https://www.who.int/mental_health/neurology/epilepsy/report_2019/en/.
WHO state that the report is a call for sustained and coordinated action to ensure that every person with epilepsy has access to the care and treatment they need, and the opportunity to live free from stigma and discrimination in all parts of the world. Christine Linehan, Director of the UCD Centre for Disability Studies, was an invited expert reviewer on this report.
