Over 200 delegates attended our webinar ‘Connecting locally: recognising the facilitators and overcoming the barriers to the social inclusion in neighbourhoods of adults with intellectual disabilities’ on September 29 2021.
This webinar, jointly hosted by the UCD Centre for Disability Studies and the National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers, showcased the findings of Dr Geraldine Boland’s doctoral thesis conducted in the Centre under the supervision of Prof Suzanne Guerin.

The recording includes a welcome by Associate Professor Christine Linehan, Director of the UCD Centre for Disability Studies, and presentations by Minister for State for Disability Anne Rabbitte TD, researcher Dr Geraldine Boland and self-advocate Breda Cross. These presentations are followed by a panel discussion hosted by Dr Alison Harnett CEO National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers including panelists: Dr Geraldine Boland, UCD Centre for Disability Studies; Ann Mealy, National Lead for Disability Day Services HSE; Selina Doyle, CEO St Patrick’s Centre Kilkenny; Breda O’Neill, CEO IRL IASD; Anne Keenan CEO Cumas New Ross; and Eilin dePaor, Clinical Manager St Michael’s House and doctoral candidate at the UCD Centre for Disability Studies. The discussion was closed by Michael Hennessy CEO of the Brothers of Charity and Chair of the National Federation of Voluntary Service Providers.
