Robert Guest, Deputy Editor of The Economist, will headline the UCD College of Business Impact Makers Summit

On 13th March 2025, the UCD College of Business Impact Makers Summit will feature insights from keynote speaker Robert Guest, Deputy Editor, The Economist as well as Irish business voices Martin Shanahan, Frances Fitzgerald, Lorna Conn, Loretta O’Sullivan, Feargal O’Rourke and UCD Professors Karan Sonpar, Imelda Maher, Joe Peppard, Damien McLoughlin, Susi Geiger, Paul Walsh, as well as many more.

Guest will share insights on commerce, trade, tech and AI and geopolitics, covering the broad span of his roles at The Economist. Combined with deep expertise in global affairs, trade, and economic trends, his opening presentation will provide invaluable insights into the forces shaping today’s interconnected world.

The Summit will welcome more than 200 alumni to UCD Smurfit School’s campus for this inaugural event, which will feature faculty, business leaders and alumni. The event is designed to offer life-long learning to UCD College of Business alumni while showcasing original interdisciplinary thinking from University College Dublin.  

“In a time of global turmoil, discussions will inevitably focus on geopolitical happenings,” said Professor Federica Pazzaglia, Director of UCD Smurfit School. “The body of the event will be three parallel sessions on Strategy and Leadership; Digital Innovation; and From Globalisation to Multipolarity: Tech, Trade and Regulation, while the opening keynote and closing Global Ireland session will examine world events that are impacting businesses worldwide.

“We are delighted to welcome our alumni back on our campus to reconnect and engage with topics of global importance in the spirit of our tradition as Ireland’s leading business school offering a fresh perspective on global events.” 

The UCD Impact Makers Summit is a must-attend event for professionals, academics, and policymakers looking to gain insights on leadership, technology, and global business dynamics.
