Smurfit Wins CFA Research Challenge 2024 – for the third year in a row!

The CFA Ireland Research Challenge was hosted by Davy Stockbrokers on Thursday 29th February 2024. The UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School Team comprised students from the finance related suite of MSc Programmes: MSc (Finance), MSc (Quantitative Finance), MSc (Financial Data Science) and MSc (Sustainable Finance).
UCD Smurfit School competed against Trinity College, University College Cork, Dublin City University and Queens University Belfast. We are delighted to congratulate UCD Smurfit School on winning the competition and are now the CFA Ireland Research Challenge Champions 2024, having already won the competition in 2023, 2022 and 2018.
The team was ably mentored by Dr. Cormac Mac Fhionnlaoich, and Marie Gillespie, CFA, ESG Research Lead, AIB. Together Cormac and Marie have mentored UCD Smurfit School to ‘Three in a Row CFA Research Challenge Champions!’
The focus company was Kingspan, a global leader in high performance insulation and building envelope solutions. The team’s report and presentation concluded with a BUY recommendation.
The UCD Smurfit School team will now go onto the represent the School, UCD and Ireland at the Northern Europe Sub Regional Final during the month of March, where they will compete against National CFA Research Championship Teams from Finland, Norway and Sweden.
