Monday, April 20, 2020, Dublin- UCD College of Business has launched a new podcast series featuring world-renowned academics, industry leaders and alumni from Ireland’s leading undergraduate and graduate business schools.
The 30-minute podcast series is hosted by former Business Post editor and current UCD Quinn School lecturer Emmet Oliver. Each week, thought leaders from the world of academia and industry will join Emmet to discuss the most compelling issues affecting society from a business perspective.
These conversations will offer insight, spark curiosity and challenge listeners to rethink how they do business in a changing world. The UCD Business Impact Podcast aims to reach multiple audiences at a time when many people are working from home, often directly involved in addressing the economic and business fallout of the crisis. One of the goals of the series is to bring the latest expert thinking to listeners and offer some guidance on addressing the myriad challenges we face.
As a result, in its initial stage, the podcast will feature commentary on the economic impact from the COVID-19 crisis—looking at the business, social, workplace and health implications of the crisis at local and global levels.
The first episode of UCD Business Impact, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: COVID-19 Financial Impact, features Professor Niamh Brennan, Ireland’s leading expert on corporate governance. Upcoming guests include Mary Lambkin-Coyle, Professor of Marketing and author of the Consumer Market Monitor; Andreas Hoepner, Professor of Operational Risk and the only academic member to serve on the EU’s Technical Expert Group on Sustainable Finance; as well as alumni and School Advisory Board members in Ireland and overseas.
New episodes will be released every Tuesday and will be available on iTunes, as well as the UCD Smurfit School website and UCD Quinn School website.
On the launch of College’s first podcast, Dean Anthony Brabazon said,
“As Ireland’s leading business school, we see it as imperative to continue to serve our community during one of the greatest challenges of our generation. Through our new UCD Business Impact podcast, thought leaders from academia and industry will contribute their perspective on COVID-19 challenges and ripple effects on business and society globally. Drawing from our academic expertise, as well as impact makers amongst our alumni community, we will be reaching out to our students and the wider business community through a compelling series of conversations on a range of topical issues during these unprecedented times.”
