Languages
On applying to BCIT Programme, you will select two languages to study, choosing from Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish. At the end of the first trimester, students choose one of the two options to pursue as their language minor for the remainder of the course.
Working with colleagues from both the UCD School of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics (SLCL) and the Centre of Chinese Studies, you are provided with a large choice of language studies, including opportunities of deepening linguistic and cultural awareness through the study of literature. All languages can be studied from beginner’s level, apart from French where a Minimum H4 (or equivalent) is a minimum requirement. Students with advanced language levels do a placement test at the start of Stage 1 to determine their standard and which modules they should take. Commencing 2 new languages on entry to the BCIT Programme is not recommended.
You must be committed to spending a year abroad and have an interest in and aptitude for Languages.
