UCD Host Internship Agreement Form

The first step is to contact the Internship Office (quinnsummerinternships@ucd.ie) to discuss the available role. If the role meets our requirements you will be asked to complete a job description.

Students undertake in-person or hybrid internships. No fully remote internships are accepted on the programme.

  • Students undertaking in-person internships will be full-time in the host employers office space.
  • Students undertaking hybrid internships will split their time between the host employers office space and a co-working space in the UCD Lochlann Quinn School of Business. A minimum of 2 days on-site in the office is required. Host employers are welcome to discuss their individual office arrangements with the UCD Quinn Placement Manager - quinnsummerinternships@ucd.ie.
  • Students are not permitted to take fully remote internships.

UCD conducts pre-screening interviews with all applicants to discuss their skills, academic background and internship preferences. Students are then matched to relevant roles. The company will receive an email with further details of their matched interns in May.

Yes, we have a large number of students on our summer internship programme, meaning it is possible for a company to request to hire multiple interns and it is common for organisations to request teams of 2,3,4 or more providing they have suitable roles and can facilitate the numbers.

We will do our best to match you with a suitable intern but unfortunately this cannot be guaranteed.

You will be required to complete a job description template containing details of the role and required skills. Once allocated a suitable match you will be asked to provide details of the reporting manager, the working hours and the dress code.

The host company will be required to meet with their intern the week before the internship commences (see Timelines) to discuss the job responsibilities and reporting structures. This normally takes place on an afternoon two weeks before the internship commences. Final date tbc but likely to be Wednesday 12 June.

Participating students are carrying out their internship as part of a wider academic programme at UCD, therefore, the internships are unpaid. Where possible we would encourage employers to provide their intern with lunch/travel vouchers.

The employer will update and report on their intern’s performance throughout the internship.  At the end of the internship the employer will be asked to complete a performance review form that will then be returned to the student’s home university.

Yes, unfortunately students can withdraw from the Internship Programme if due to extenuating circumstances. If this happens we will try to find an alternative candidate but unfortunately this may not always be possible.
