ScholarGPS Ranks Professor Da-Wen Sun as the No. 1 Scholar in Food Engineering in the World

Recently, ScholarGPS released its 2024 list of the top 0.05% of scientists globally. According to the rankings, which are based on lifetime achievements, Professor Da-Wen Sun is ranked #1 in five key fields: Food Engineering, Food Industry, Food Safety, Hyperspectral Imaging, and Imaging Technology. Additionally, in the broader discipline of Food Science and Technology, Professor Sun is ranked among the top three scholars worldwide. In another highlight, Professor Sun’s global ranking across all fields soared to #1,925, a remarkable rise of 2,229 places from last year’s position of #4,154.

Professor Da-Wen Sun is an Academician of six prestigious academies, including Royal Irish Academy, Academia Europaea (The European Academy), Polish Academy of Sciences, International Academy of Food Science and Technology, International Academy of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, and International Academy of Refrigeration, and is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of Food and Bioprocess Technology. Professor Sun has an extraordinary publication record, with over 1,400 papers, including more than 900 peer-reviewed journal articles indexed in Web of Science (h-index: 128), SCOPUS (h-index: 141), and Google Scholar (h-index: 166). In particular, Professor Sun has been recognized as a ClarivateTM Highly Cited Researcher for 10 consecutive years (2015–2024). He also ranked prominently in the Stanford University list of the World’s Top 2% Scientists in October 2023, placing 745th among 210,198 listed scientists.
