QQI-FET progression to Law DN600

The (opens in a new window)UCD Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL)   degree enjoys a proud history and an established reputation at home and abroad.

The BCL degree allows you to immerse yourself in the study of law, to engage with a range of interesting legal perspectives and to acquire a profound understanding of how law works in theory and in practice. You can pick one of 8 degree options at time of application:

  • Law (BCL)
  • Law with Economics*
  • Law with French Law*#
  • Law with History
  • Law with Irish
  • Law with Philosophy
  • Law with Politics
  • Law with Social Justice

The study of Law is a full time occupation and entry is conditional on your making a full time commitment.

#Students who achieve the highest grades in Level I of the BCL (Law with French Law) will have the option to apply for interview to enter the BCL/Maîtrise.

How do I enter DN600 Law from a QQI-FET award?

Entry to first year Law is available on a competitive basis to applicants who present an accepted major award with Distinction (80% or better) in at least 5 components, including any components and/or results specified below.

No specific components are required, as long as you present an accepted major award with at least 5 Distinctions.

  • For the Law with French Law degree option, FET applicants musthold  a Grade H3 in Leaving Certificate French, or equivalent. Without this standard, they will not be permitted to undertake the Law with French Law degree option.
  • It is strongly recommendedthat entrants to the Law with Economics degree option have a minimum grade H6 in Leaving Certificate Maths (or equivalent).

How will I be assessed?
