What Happens Next?

  • When the thesis is approved for examination an email is sent to the members of the Exam Committee. The Examiners review the thesis and submit their Preliminary Report. For Level 10 (Doctoral) students the Preliminary Report should be submitted prior to the Viva Voce.
  • The Preliminary Reports must be submitted before the Chair of the Exam Committee can submit the final Joint Degree Report on behalf of the Examiners.
  • The Joint Degree Report contains the recommendation of the Exam Committee, along with viva date. (Today’s date where a Viva was not required)

Supervisor What Happens Next

When the Chair submits the Joint Degree Report on behalf of the Examiners

a) the Examiners must formally approve it through the system.

b) if revisions have been recommended the portal will open for the student.

  • The Chair or nominee (usually the Intern Examiner) will communicate the full details of thesis revisions directly to the student. These revisions will be completed and approved outside of the system.
  • When the Intern Examiner is satisfied the revisions have been completed they will inform the student that they may upload their revised Final Thesis. This is the Final Thesis and must not contain highlighting or red text etc. When uploaded, the Intern Examiner will approve it in the system.
  • The student may now send in the Hard-bound Thesis. This is a requirement for conferring. If approved by the ACCE, the student will be required to submit the hard-bound thesis.
  • The Joint Degree Report will go to ACCE for approval. If approved notification of the award is sent to: Student, Supervisor, Head of School, and Chair of Exam Committee
  • Once approved by the ACCE and the hard-bound thesis is received, the student will be referred to the Conferring Unit for graduation.
