Advising on NPHET Behavioural Change Group
Professor Liam Delaney is AIB Chair of Behavioural Economics at UCD School of Economics and a Fellow of the UCD Geary Institute of Public Policy.
The Behavioural Science and Public Policy Group at the Geary Institute has been conducting a number of studies on how the Irish population is responding to the many challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Professor Delaney is part of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) Covid-19 Subgroup: Behavioural Change, and has been working with several colleagues to provide direct input into government actions to contain the spread of the virus.
The NPHET subgroup design, implement and analyse rapid behavioural studies and other research measures to support optimal impact of ongoing communications and interventions, address emerging issues and concerns, or as requested by NPHET.
Other UCD Geary Institute academics including Dr Kate Laffan and Dr Leonhard Lades have been providing substantial input into the research. The NPHET group also includes researchers from NUI Galway, ESRI, Safefood, and SEAI, and is a national interdisciplinary collaborative effort.
