Lecturer/Assistant Professor (Ad Astra Fellow)
Nora has been published in the world's top ranked journals on research areas including public finance, specifically personal income taxation, at the intersection of international trade, welfare economics, and political economy. In addition to her academic role, she is also chair of UCD School of Economics' committee on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and a mentor in the mentorship programme of the Women in Economics Initiative, offering guidance to junior economists.
In the Women in Economics podcast, Lifting Up (Episode 5), Nora speaks on the importance of mentoring for women in economics and for women generally. She has been part of the WIE mentoring programme for two years, advising doctoral students as they progress through their studies and research and supporting them as they prepare to enter the job market.
We can do the difficult thing. But we don't have to do it alone.
Nora's current work focuses on the effects of taxation on households' higher education choices, the development of income taxes in response to globalisation and income inequality, and the influence of politics on tax setting. She has shared her research and thoughts on tax policy in editorials and other media including Newstalk's Let me explain podcast.
