UCD WRFC Colours win

Women’s Rugby in UCD caters for every level of player from complete beginners to those with prior experience. All are welcome to join. In fact, the majority of the club members have never played rugby before coming to UCD; so don’t be afraid to have a go! We have 3 teams; one competing in Division 2 of the Leinster League and two in the Student Sport Ireland Colleges league and cup competitions. The club also competes in the annual Colours match against rivals Trinity, which they retained in 2024. Training is usually Monday and Wednesday at 7pm with matches mid-week. The club also enjoys a lively social side with monthly socials and post match analysis in the Clubhouse.

Goals

At UCD we set out to give all our players a basic knowledge of the game before advancing onto the finer points, with player safety an upmost priority, as so many of our players only take up rugby when they come to UCD. Our team wants to win, but we also want to ensure that everybody has the craic and enjoys every minute of their time with the team.

Why play with UCD?

We welcome all players with all skill levels, just because you haven’t played before doesn’t matter one bit to us, we’ll teach you how to play. Our coaches will take beginners in small groups to help them along at the start, while more experienced players benefit from one to one coaching sessions as well as group sessions. We also want you to have fun so we will organise nights out as team building exercises throughout the season as well as an end of season friendly followed by our Awards Night in April.

Playing rugby is a great way to make friends when you come to college and the friendships you make playing rugby last well beyond your time in UCD.
