Parents Orientation

Register for Parents/Guardians UCD Science Orientation Session

‌Professor Jeremy Simpson, College Principal and Dean of Science, requests the pleasure of your company at our Science Orientation session for Parents/Guardians of new Stage 1 students on Monday, 14th October in the UCD O’Brien Centre for Science, Belfield Campus, Dublin 4. If you missed the session or would like to review the slides, the Parents Orientation Session Slides (PDF) are now available to download. 

This event is for parents/guardians of Stage 1 students registered to the following degree programmes:

  • Science (DN200)
  • Actuarial and Financial Studies (DN230)
  • Computer Science (DN201) 
  • Sustainability (DN240)

This event will begin at 6pm with a reception on the ground floor of the O’Brien Centre for Science following by an information session.

If you are able to join us please register with the student’s name, your email address and the number of people attending the event. Please register using our (opens in a new window)Online Registration Form by Monday, 9th October.   

Please note that in compliance with GDPR regulations any information provided will only be used for catering/seating purposes. This information will not be circulated to any other units/institutions and will be deleted when the event is over.

Schedule

6pm to 7pm Reception on the Ground Floor Concourse of the O’Brien Centre:
This will be an opportunity for you to see the O'Brien Centre for Science and to meet with some of our academic and support staff as well as our Student Leaders.  Tea and coffee will be served.

7pm to 8pm: Information Session on the degree programme – in the Science Hub, Theatre B, UCD O'Brien Centre for Science.
We aim to provide information that will give you an insight into life as a Science student and to explain what they will experience. We hope this will help you to support them during this time of transition.

Information about getting to UCD

We recommend that you plan your journey ahead of time and to please read the information at  UCD Estate Services' Commuting Services. Public transport is advised where possible. The UCD O'Brien Centre for Science is located on (opens in a new window)Google Maps.  

R138/N11 Stillorgan Road entrance

If you are arriving to the campus by the R138/N11 entrance, please follow the directions to the O'Reilly carpark (N2). Limited  parking will be available in O'Reilly carpark (N2). For information on  parking spaces designated as disabled  parking areas, please visit  (opens in a new window)Estate Services website.


For traffic entering from the Clonskeagh Road via the Wynnsward Drive Entrance there is currently a reduction in parking spaces in that area due to the removal of one car park for construction works. Additional parking will also be available in the Newstead area close by. Allow a ten-minute walk to the main entrance of the O'Brien Centre for Science from these carparks.
