As part of the celebrations for Dantedì 2025, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura is pleased to host an exhibition entitled Dante’s Inferno Reloaded. The exhibition features works produced by students of University College Dublin. The last part of the event will be devoted tothe renowned international composer Patrick Cassidy, who will speak about his latest work, an adaptation of Dante's Commedia.
Whether satirical, thought-provoking, moving, or ironic, the original works by the students demonstrate how the dialogue between the Commedia and the present remains incredibly vibrant, even seven centuries after its composition. From consumerism to mental health, from language learning to a wide range of personal experiences, each piece revisits Dante’s Inferno from a unique perspective, addressing universal themes and showcasing the inexhaustible evocative power of Dante’s language and imagery.
From 6 pm, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the visual artworks in the Institute’s library. At 6.30 pm, the evening will continue with the performance of a short one-act play, followed by the reading of short stories and poems.
At 7 pm, our guest of honour, composer Patrick Cassidy, will talk about his latest work: the opera Dante: From Inferno to Paradise.
The exhibition is curated by Dr. Serena Laiena and Dr. Giulia M. Cipriani (UCD). Participation is free of charge after booking on the Institute's website.
