ACSI 18th Biennial Conference

Prof Michael Brophy, President of the (opens in a new window)Association of Canadian Studies in Ireland and Head of UCD French and Francophone Studies, was pleased to welcome His Excellency, Kevin Vickers, Canadian Ambassador to Ireland, on the occasion of the Association's 18th biennial conference entitled Imagi/Nation: Canada Past and Future / Imagi/Nation: Le Canada, son passé et son avenir (Maynooth University, 13-14 May 2016).

The conference, which took place in English and French, was attended by delegates from Canada, the US, the UK, Australia and Ireland, as well as by the incoming Irish Ambassador to Canada Jim Kelly. Topics spanning numerous disciplines ranged from language rights to changing representations of the First Nations to the politics of commemoration.
