Thesis Working Title: Depictions of Queer Migration to Berlin and London in 21st Century Literature and Television
Supervisor: Dr Joseph Twist and Professor Gerardine Meaney
Thesis:
Prior to beginning my PhD in 2022, I graduated from the BA Joint Honours (English and German) and MA English programs at the University of Limerick. My research is part of the ERC project VICTEUR: European Migrants in the British Imagination, and is joint-supervised by Professor Gerardine Meaney and Dr Joseph Twist. My thesis examines depictions of queer migration to the metropoles of Berlin and London in works of contemporary literature and television, incorporating both traditional literary analysis as well as digital methodologies. By working with both literature and television across English and German, I aim to develop a broader understanding of how queer migration is depicted in both anglophone and germanophone cultures.
