Postdoctoral Researcher: Dr Zoe O'Reilly

Dr Zoë O’Reilly is a researcher and visual ethnographer currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice at UCD, as part of the Scottish Irish Migration Initiative (SIMI). She completed her PhD at Maynooth University in 2013 on the subject of the ‘Direct Provision’ system in Ireland. Her research interests include ethnographies of displacement, migration, asylum and cultural diversity. She also has a particular interest in visual, sense-based and participatory methodologies. Alongside Dr. Muireann Ní Raghallaigh and Dr. Karen Smith, she is currently working on a research project funded by the Irish Research Council’s ‘New Foundations Award’, looking at experiences of people of a refugee background based in Ireland and Scotland of taking part in research.
