University College Dublin is seeking applications for 65 Ad Astra Fellows across all disciplines. Ad Astra Fellows are appointed for a five year term, with the opportunity to apply for a permanent position at the Assistant Professor/Lecturer Level after four years. Fellows have a reduced teaching load during their first three years and an annual research budget.
As part of the Ad Astra initiative, the Social Work Division (part of the School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice) is seeking candidates with a strong empirical and theoretical focus on a number of areas of social work. The candidate should contribute to our Professional Masters in Social Work programme as well as our undergraduate and doctoral provision. We welcome candidates who can complement our existing strengths by contributing to the following fields: adult social work (in particular safeguarding); child and family social work (in particular child protection, adolescent mental health); and social work, social justice and human rights (in particular migration, social and political conflict).
The Social Work Division has a very strong national and international orientation, collaborating with research networks across University College Dublin and Ireland, and in Europe, North America and Asia. We have are engaged in an extensive range of partnerships with professional bodies, statutory, voluntary and community organisations. Please consult our website for more information: http://www.ucd.ie/socialpolicyworkjustice/research/researchareas/socialwork/
Applicants should have a PhD in social work or a related discipline (for example social policy, sociology, political science, law) and a record of academic publications on social work or related areas. They should also be eligible to register with Ireland’s professional registration board for social workers, CORU.
Information about the Ad Astra initiative and application procedure is available on this website: http://www.ucd.ie/adastrafellows/
Interested candidates may contact Prof. Michelle Norris, Head of School, if they require more information (michelle.norris@ucd.ie).
The deadline for applications is 22 April 2019.
To apply, click on the "apply now" button at the top right of the Ad Astra website listed above. Choose "Ad Astra" for the vacancy level, and the "School of Social Sciences and Law" in the "UCD School/Unit" box and then continue with the application procedure
