Continued strong interest in Social and Behavioural Sciences at the Annual BT Young Science & Technology Exhibition
Friday, 19 January, 2018
BT Young Science and Technology Exhibition, January 2018
Professor Colin Scott, Dean of Social Sciences University College Dublin, presented the UCD Social Sciences Special Category Award to Susie Gill, Sarah Kelly & Adrianne Ward, Loreto College, St Stephen’s Green for their project titled “Let Science Influence The Voting Age” in the Social and Behavioural Sciences category.
The award was made to the young scientists at the annual event’s awards evening on Friday 12th January 2018, an excellent project on political awareness of young people aged 16 and 17 years old versus political awareness of 18 year olds in Ireland. Their project was inspired by much of the media coverage given to the debate as to whether the voting age should be lowered.
UCD College of Social Sciences and Law were delighted to be a part of this exciting event showcasing the talent and ability of young Irish students in the sciences. The Social and Behavioural category continues to be the most popular in the BT Young Scientist competition, with almost 40% of final 550 projects displayed in the RDS representing a wide variety of social and behavioural science topics.
