Graduate Support Fund for Schools 2024/25

College of Social Sciences & Law

The College of Social Sciences and Law recognises the importance of its graduate community  in creating new knowledge, innovation and communicating it to broader society and to peers  nationally and internationally.

The College also recognises that Schools are the key unit where graduate students are located and find support, and thus the most appropriate scale at which financial support for research communication, dissemination and engagement should be distributed.

The new Graduate Support Fund for Schools, replacing the former Graduate Research and Innovation Fund (GRIF), supports the College’s 11 Schools to provide financial assistance to graduate students for conference participation at professional international academic conferences (in Ireland and overseas).

Criteria:
  • The student must be presenting a paper (as sole or co-author).
  • Poster presentations are not eligible.
  • The conference for which funding is awarded must take place within the academic year of application.
  • Successful applicants, who are awarded funding by their School, are required to report on their activity to their School.
  • The fund does not support basic research functions necessary to the research project itself such as field research, data gathering, data analysis etc.
  • Applications to purchase personal computers, laptops or books cannot be accepted.
Applications:

The application process is managed by individual Schools so please contact your School Office for more information and guidance on how to make an application.
