Professor Gillian Russell (Melbourne)

Gillian Russell is Gerry Higgins Chair in Irish Studies at the University of Melbourne.
She is the author of Tracing War in British Enlightenment and Romantic Culture (ed. 2015); Women, Sociability, and Theatre in Georgian London (2007); Romantic Sociability: Social Networks and Literary Culture in Britain, 1770-1840 (ed. 2002); and The Theatres of War: Performance, Politics and Society 1793-1815 (1995). Her research interests include eighteenth and nineteenth-century literature and culture; sociability and social networks; theatre and performance; representations of war in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; and book history and printed ephemera.
