The "Healthcare at the Crossroads: COMPHACRISIS Workshop on Regulation, Innovation, and Market Dynamics" was held on September 13, 2024, at UCD Sutherland School of Law. This event, part of the COMPHACRISIS project funded by the EU's Horizon Europe MSCA programme, brought together experts to discuss critical issues in healthcare, competition law, and pharmaceutical markets. The workshop featured two panels focusing on competition in the EU healthcare sector and post-pandemic trends, including AI's impact on healthcare markets. Key themes included the balance between competition and innovation in healthcare, EU post-pandemic initiatives, AI's role in shaping healthcare markets, and the pandemic's impact on trade practices. Speakers included Dr Mary Guy (Liverpool John Moores University), Dr Diletta Danieli (University of Verona), Dr Nicole Gross (National College of Ireland), Professor Susi Geiger (UCD), and Dr Qianlan Wu (University of Nottingham). Panel chairs were Professor Suzanne Kingston (UCD and the General Court of the European Union) and Mr. Cathal Hanely (The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission-CCPC). Dr Vincent Power (A & L Goodbody) and Dr. Lukasz Grzejdziak (University of Strathclyde) served as discussants. The event, organised by Dr Mina Hosseini (Marie Skłodowska–Curie postdoctoral fellow at UCD) and Professor Imelda Maher (UCD Sutherland School of Law), concluded with the introduction of the Competition Conversation Network and planned for a future symposium in the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics (Cambridge University Press).
