Sustainable Development in Practice Talk: Advancing SDG 2: Agricultural commercialisation, nutritional status, and food insecurity of smallholder cassava farming households in Southwestern Nigeria

Olutosin Otekunrin

Dr Olutosin Otekunrin will be speaking on the topic of 'Advancing SDG2: Agricultural commercialisation, nutritional status, and food insecurity of smallholder cassava farming households in Southwestern Nigeria'. In his presentation, Dr Otekunrin will examine past and present progress toward SDG2 in Nigeria, focusing on hunger, agricultural commercialization, and their interrelationships with dietary diversity, nutritional status, food insecurity, gender dynamics, and health and environment-related factors of smallholder cassava farming households in Southwestern Nigeria. Dr Otekunrin is an agricultural economist and Senior Research Associate at the Innovation Lab for Policy Leadership in Agriculture and Food Security (PiLAF), University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He completed his PhD in Agricultural Economics at the Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2022, has published in internationally recognised journals including Global Food SecuritySustainability, and Agriculture, among others. His field of interest includes Agricultural Economics; Agribusiness; Food Security and Nutrition; Agricultural Marketing; Agricultural Education; and Farm Management.
