Do you want to understand how governments, parliaments, parties and elections work? Are you interested in people’s behaviour and in current affairs, enjoy problem-solving and are naturally analytical with good numeracy skills? Then our Politics & International Relations, Philosophy & Economics Virtual Summer School will give you the chance to find out what it is like to study these subject areas in university.
Virtual Summer School Format
As we are unable to invite you to campus for this years Summer School, we have decided to run all activities online. We will be presenting a reduced program via the Zoom webinar platform and invite you to register above.
Who can register?
The Virtual Summer School is for any student interested in studying at UCD. Students, parents, guidance counsellors and International Students are all welcome to attend.

Our Speakers
Associate Professor Vincent Durac lectures in Middle East Politics, Politics of Development and Terrorism and Political Violence in the UCD School of Politics and International Relations. His research is focused on a number of aspects of contemporary Middle East Politics, including political reform, the role of civil society the impact of external actors in the region, and Yemeni political dynamics. He is a visiting lecturer in Middle East Politics in Bethlehem University in Palestine. He is a Council member of the Council of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES), of the European Association for Middle Eastern Studies (EURAMES), and of Friends of Bethlehem University in Ireland (FBUI). |

Dr Martijn Schoonvelde is an Assistant Professor in the School of Politics and International Relations at University College Dublin. Before joining UCD, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. He was also a Max Weber fellow at the European University Institute in Florence, and an associate research fellow at the University of Exeter. He received my PhD from Stony Brook University.
