UCD Cricket Club have been crowned Trevor West Trophy winners after Intervarsity tournament success.
UCD Cricket Club won the IUCA Outdoor Intervarsity tournament for the first time since 1991, after beating Dublin University in the final in Cork County Cricket Club.
Having beaten UCC in the quarter finals, UCD were drawn against a strong University of Galway side in Cork. After an all-round team performance, UCD triumphed in a comfortable victory winning by 115 runs.
UCD then faced the formidable task of beating Dublin University, multi time winners of the tournament and the current holders. After back-to-back final losses, UCD emerged victorious to win the tournament 33 years after their last triumph.
Congratulations to club captain Cillian McDonnell and all the players involved. Several UCD players are expected to be named in the Irish University squad for their annual tour to Cambridge later this month and we wish them well.
