UCD Ladies Hockey were crowned EuroHockey Club Trophy II champions this week after beating Turkish side Gaziantep 4-1 in the final.
UCD's two wins and a draw over the weekend secured their place in the final of the EuroHockey Club Trophy II on Monday. Their campaign began with a dominant 4-0 victory over Rakovnik (Czechia), followed by a 1-0 win against Swansea HC (Wales), keeping UCD at the top of their pool. The final pool game against Edinburgh University HC (Scotland) ended in a 0-0 draw, ensuring UCD's spot in the final.
In the final, UCD took an early lead against Gaziantep with Leah O’Shea scoring a penalty corner in the 13th minute. Captain Emma Paul extended the lead in the 25th minute, making it 2-0 at halftime. UCD added two more goals from Florence Maughan and Lauren Moore, making it 4-0 by the 39th minute. Gaziantep scored a consolation goal in the 44th minute, ending the match 4-1 in UCD's favor.
