Where do I check-in?

We have a dedicated 24/7 reception for our summer guests. Check-in is 3pm but we do our best to accommodate any early arrivals, where possible.

Do I have to share a bedroom?

No. All our guests have a bedroom of their own, with shared kitchen and living room.

Do I have to bring my own bed-linen?

No. Bedlinen is provided and changed weekly.

Is the campus safe?

Yes. Dublin is a very safe city by international standards, and our college is set in a leafy suburban area on the outskirts of the city. 24-hour security patrols by friendly but vigilant professionals make sure that the campus environment is as safe and secure as possible. Monitored CCTV around the campus also adds an extra layer of security.

Is UCD close to Dublin city centre?

Absolutely. We are fewer than three miles from the heart of Dublin, and numerous bus routes from our campus whisk you in to the city in less than twenty minutes. You are also just a half-hour from the Dublin mountains, and a similar distance from some beautiful Irish beaches.

What are the educational facilities like?

As Ireland’s leading university, you will find all the classrooms, equipment, facilities and expertise that you would expect. And with a dedicated team on hand to make sure your stay goes without a hitch, we can make any once-off arrangements that you may require.

What about the sports and leisure facilities?

Apart from having over 325 acres of beautiful parkland, you will also have access to tremendous sports facilities, including an Olympic-sized swimming pool, countless playing pitches, and a fully-equipped gym. In addition, we offer a host of free to attend classes through our on-campus sports centre, including pilates, yoga, and TRX.

Is there a social programme?

Yes – we love to make sure that our visitors get a real sense of Irish life and Irish culture. Our activities programme includes everything from free cinema screenings to Irish language lessons, an introduction to our national sport, hurling, and even puppy cuddling. There’s always something to do, and always something new to explore.

Is there a strong support system?

Most definitely. We fully realise that many of our visitors may be living away from home for the first time and go to extreme lengths to ensure that they feel right at home, and that any special needs or requests are handled quickly and thoroughly.

Is Dublin near other European cities?

Yes. In just an hour or two, your students can be enjoying the sights of London, exploring historic Amsterdam, climbing the Eiffel tower in Paris or rambling through the architectural magic of Barcelona.
