Insight and Analysis

Last updated 24th April 2024

In addition to community consultations, another key component in the development of the UCD strategy is the insight and analysis workstream which comprises three separate elements; landscape analysis, foresight analysis and benchmarking. More details on these components will follow over the coming weeks.

Landscape Analysis
Landscape Analysis

The initial aim of this process is to identify and build a thorough understanding of the landscape both within and external to the University. The Strategy Working Group will work together to review this landscape analysis and to understand what this means for UCD. Their initial assessment will be reviewed and finalised by the President and the University Management Team.

Foresight Analysis
Foresight Analysis

Foresight allows us to look beyond the immediate future and timeframe for our next strategy and to evaluate critical factors that might influence UCD in 2040. Expert panels will explore three key areas: the future of higher education, human and artificial intelligence, and sustainability.

Benchmarking
Benchmarking

Benchmarking is a process of ‘self-evaluation’ that UCD will carry out in coming months, doing so against both national and international reference points. In doing this, we will map out the distinguishing features of a UCD education and of our student experience over the coming years, ensuring that we support our students to thrive through disruptive times. We will plan how to take advantage of the breadth and depth of our research and our capacity to work across disciplines to advance understanding and deliver solutions.
