About this Word Café

The purpose of this consultation session is to engage with employees to identify how EDI and Human Rights more broadly could be reflected in the new UCD Strategy both as a key pillar as well as being embedded into all aspects of the strategy. A discussion will take place on the role that EDI can play in the successful implementation of the next UCD Strategy and Action Plan. The new UCD strategy will inform the next EDI Strategic Action Plan 2025 – 2030 so it is therefore essential that ambitious priorities are identified as part of the overall University strategy in order to lay the foundations for the next EDI strategic action plan.

EDI and Human Rights are underpinned by many various legislative requirements and are considered important KPIs in terms of seeking accreditations and rankings.

Questions

  1. What has worked well in relation to EDI mainstreaming in the last UCD Strategy that we could take forward?
  2. How can EDI and Human Rights be better reflected in the next UCD strategy and action plan. When thinking about this question, consider UCD’s core business- education and research.
  3. What should UCD prioritise in relation to EDI and Human Rights in the next 5 years and how can that be addressed in a new UCD Strategy?
  4. What are the biggest challenges that may hinder the implementation of our EDI priorities, and how can these be addressed in the University strategy?
  5. What are the biggest challenges as regards student engagement and engendering a sense of belonging in a diverse student cohort, and how can these be addressed in the University strategy.
