The UCD Organisation of the Future

About this World Café

The purpose of this World Café is to provide employees with an opportunity to engage in a discussion about the UCD Organisation of the Future.

The focus will be on how professional, managerial, technical and support staff underpin the academic mission of the University. It will also focus on the broader people-related agenda in UCD.  All faculty and staff are welcome to attend and join the conversation.  The underlying assumption is that UCD is a well-run organisation with strong capacity to develop, implement and enhance its effectiveness both through strategic initiatives and core operations.

In the next phase of the University’s development, the role and contribution of our professional, managerial, technical and support staff is vital.  The President has signalled that she will take a lead in ensuring strategic intent in all university activity with significant potential to more effectively join up key functions and provide a consistent approach to services, decisions and delivery across all colleges, schools and units.

Questions:

  1. What does a sense of belonging or community mean to UCD employees?   How can we build on this into the future to enhance our culture?
  2. What are the top three organisational challenges that you see facing the University in the next 5-10 years and how would you suggest addressing them?
  3. How can we get better integration of effort across the university in key areas of shared requirements or ambition whilst implementing effective working policies?
  4. In light of cost of living challenges, how can we attract, retain and support our colleagues? How can we enhance the employee experience in UCD through practical measures?
  5. How can we further support people from recruitment to exit to help them reach their full potential?
