Before I came to UCD, I…
I grew up in the US where I received my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. I went on to work with an
NGO for two years doing low-income home repairs. I then came to UCD to study Water, Waste, and
Environmental Engineering.

My UCD experience has been…
I have enjoyed meeting people from all over the world in UCD. My programme is so diverse and the variety of
perspectives have helped me learn. In addition, I have been involved with the TradSoc where I have been able to
enjoy Irish culture and music with other students of all levels and backgrounds.

At UCD, I learned to…
My learning in the master’s programme has been very practical. I have learned about the workings of water and
wastewater treatment plants and the strategies we use to provide essential environmental services to cities
whilst coexisting with other non-human communities. I have also had the chance to engage in academic research
for the first time, which has proven both challenging and rewarding.

The highlight of my time at UCD has been…
Presenting my thesis research in two international conferences alongside my adviser, David Ayala-Cabrera, was a
humbling and valuable experience.

As a result of my scholarship, I have been/will be able to…
I am incredibly honored to receive this scholarship. It was such a surprise to be singled out for my work, and I so
appreciate this tangible symbol of my hard work.

My postgraduate and occupational plans include…
I will be working with city government back in the US to manage public works projects.

Have you any message you would like to pass on to the person/ people who supported your scholarship?
Thank you so much for your recognition. I tend to be very hard on myself and not take a moment to appreciate
the work I have put in, and to be awarded this scholarship is an honor and a true testament to the important
work I was able to accomplish with the support of all my mentors in UCD.
