A SHS doctor writes a prescription

When a doctor decides during a consultation to prescribe medication for you, issuing the prescription is included in the consultation fee.  You should take the prescription to be filled at any Pharmacy, you will be charged at the Pharmacy for the medication/s prescribed.

A outside doctor or consultant has written the prescription

If you are taking medication prescribed elsewhere and wish to renew that prescription you must have a consultation with a doctor in SHS who will advise if this is possible and if any other steps are necessary before issuing the prescription. There is a 30 euro consultation charge for this. There may be additional charges if other checks such as blood pressure or blood tests are needed. Please note, not all requests will be feasible but the team endeavour to facilitate these prescriptions where possible.

A previous prescription written by SHS

If you wish to renew a prescription for medication previously prescribed in the student health service please contact us at 01 7163134 to arrange a doctors appointment.  There is a charge of 30 euro for this service.

Cost of a prescription

You must pay separately for the medication prescribed at a pharmacy.

There is a (opens in a new window)pharmacy  available on campus

If you need a receipt , please ask at reception at the time of payment or email (opens in a new window)student.health@ucd.ie  and request a receipt.

The Student Health Service does not have a GMS contract therefore cannot facilitate medical cards or EHIC cards.
