Our Plan

The UCD Strategy 2020 - 2024 Rising to the Future has the creation of a sustainable global society as its first pillar.

As the University prepares to launch its next strategy, a call for a clearer, deeper commitment to sustainability has emerged strongly through an in-depth consultation process with our community and stakeholders.

UCD aims to be a thought and action leader of transformational change for sustainability. Through its education, research and innovation, its campus infrastructure and operations, its people and alumni and its partnerships and wider engagement, UCD will maximise its contribution to sustainability at local, national and global levels.

By 2030, it is envisaged that sustainability will be a core value of UCD’s diverse community of staff, students and alumni. In the coming years, the University will drive the creation of effective and widely adopted sustainability solutions through interdisciplinary collaboration, strong external partnerships and the integration of research, education and operations.

The launch of the new UCD Strategy 2025-2030 is planned for November 2024. At that time, this page will be updated to include detailed objectives for sustainability. In due course a Progress Tracker for the achievement of the objectives will also be provided.
