Thursday, 10 October, 2024

What sustainability issues concern young Irish teenagers most?

On Tuesday the second Generation Glas programme was officially launched in University College Dublin by Richard Bruton TD, Fine Gael spokesman for the Environment, Climate and Communications.

Generation Glas is a Research Ireland Discover-funded programme for young people from marginalised and under-resourced communities across Ireland. It is supported by BiOrbic, Bioeconomy SFI Research Centre and leading Irish youth organisation,Foróige.

This youth Sustainability Ambassadors programme includes a residential summer school in UCD from the 6th-9th August. Generation Glas runs for eight months and also includes field trips to sustainability hubs around Ireland, biweekly online sessions with expert guests and a series of co-created community events led by the young participants.

In this video, project coordinator Conor Patrick Haugh explains how the programme has grown - and some participants give their own reasons for getting involved.
